Ukraine’s National Security and Defence Council: “If you cannot close the sky, give us weapons, we’ll do it ourselves”

The Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defence Council, Oleksiy Danilov, appealed to Ukraine’s international partners and NATO asking for military planes and air defence weaponry, if Ukraine’s request for a "no-fly zone" cannot be met.

Danilov says: "It is at this exact moment, on this day, at this minute, that we need maximum speed in the delivery of practical assistance, on which Ukraine’s, as well as the West’s, victory depends; it is a matter of protecting the Ukrainian skies by a transfer of military aeroplanes and anti-aircraft systems.

"This is what will determine whether Russia will continue killing our women and children, our parents and the elderly.

If NATO does not want to or is unable to "close the sky" over Ukraine, we will close it ourselves, but give us weapons, if your weapons are being kept in their cases."
