Poland is ready to transfer the MiG-29 fighter jets requested by Ukraine to the US Ramstein Airbase in Germany but asks the US to provide replacements.

This is according to a statement published by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland on Tuesday evening, reports Evropeyska Pravda.

"After consultations between the Polish President and Government, the Polish authorities are prepared to deploy all their MiG-29 jets to the Ramstein Airbase and hand them over to the US Government immediately and for free," the statement says.

At the same time, Poland asks the US to provide it with fighter jets with equivalent technical capabilities in exchange.

"Poland is prepared to set procurement conditions for the jets immediately," according to the statement.

The Polish government also calls for other allies in NATO that have MiG-29 aeroplanes to do likewise.

The White House had earlier confirmed that the US was in discussions with Poland about the possibility of transferring Polish fighter jets to Ukraine.
