When will the war end? Ukrainians expressed their expectations

Monday, 25 April 2022, 20:35

Sociologists asked Ukrainians when, in their opinion, the war may end.

Fifty-nine percent of respondents consider that the war will last several months or even longer.

This indicator has risen because, three weeks ago, only 48 percent of respondents shared that view, announced the research agency Info Sapiens.

"Despite their belief in victory, most Ukrainians do not expect that the war will be quick and easy," say sociologists.

In general, Ukrainians made the following conjectures about the duration of the war:

  • Approximately one more week - 4%;
  • Several weeks - 16%;
  • Several months - 28%;
  • From six months to a year - 21%;
  • More than a year - 10%.

Twenty percent of respondents were unable or refused to answer this question.

We note that most Ukrainians questioned in the survey (93 percent) said that they believe in a victory over the Russian Federation.

The sociological survey, in which 1,034 respondents took part, was conducted on 18 and 19 April 2022.

The representative sample of Ukraine’s adult population (over the age of 18) for this article was based on age, size of settlement and region of residence.

The Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol were excluded from the survey.

In Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, the survey was conducted only in the territories under Ukrainian control.

The survey also excluded Ukrainians who went abroad.

The maximum theoretical margin of error is not more than 3.1 percent.
