Quote: "On 3 April, units of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine took control of the area of the town of Pripyat and a section of the national border between Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus.

We are continuing to carry out combat missions! Together to victory! Glory to the Air Assault Forces! Glory to Ukraine!"

Background:

  • On 31 March, all the invading Russian troops left the "exclusion zone" at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant in Pripyat.
  • Before withdrawing, Russian soldiers looted the premises of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant and a hotel nearby, even stealing electric kettles and forks.

On 2 April, Ukrainian troops, having regained control of the Chornobyl NPP, raised a Ukrainian flag outside the administrative premises of the plant.
