165 children have died in Ukraine as a result of Russia's armed aggression and another 266 have been injured, not including those killed in Mariupol, Kyiv, and the Chernihiv and Luhansk regions.

Details: The Office of the Prosecutor General noted that these figures are not final, as work is underway to establish casualties in places of active hostilities, in the temporarily occupied and liberated territories. In particular, there is no data yet from the city of Mariupol, some areas of Kyiv, or the Chernihiv and Luhansk regions.

Authorities estimate that as of 27 March, nearly 5,000 people have died in Mariupol, including about 210 children. It is currently impossible to establish the exact number of casualties.

The regions with the largest numbers of child casualties are Kyiv (77), Donetsk (78), Kharkiv (61), Chernihiv (49), Mykolaiv (35), Luhansk (31), Zaporizhzhia (22), Kherson (29), Sumy (16), Zhytomyr (15) and the capital (16).

On 4 April a child was killed in Mykolaiv as a result of an attack by the Russian armed forces.

Also, during the occupation of the village of Vorzel in Kyiv region, the Russian military threw a smoke grenade into the basement of a house and then opened fire on those sheltering there.  A 14-year-old child was killed on the spot and his mother died two days later still in the basement.

Also in the town of Bucha, Kyiv region, a Russian shell killed 6 people, including one child.

Bombing and shelling in Ukraine have damaged 869 educational institutions, 83 of which have been completely destroyed.
