Ukraine investigates 5,000 Russian war crimes - Iryna Venediktova

Iryna Venediktova, the Prosecutor General, has said that Ukraine is investigating around 5,000 Russian war crimes.

According to Venediktova: "We must understand that even in such a brutal situation, war crimes are the first level in the scale. After that come crimes against humanity, genocide. We are investigating all these crimes to bring to justice all those who started this war to destroy Ukrainians."

Details: The Prosecutor General noted that the investigation of war crimes is a top priority task for the entire law-enforcement system of Ukraine.

Iryna Venediktova said that about 5,000 crimes have currently been classified as war crimes.

Almost 2,000 are associated with war crimes. All the criminal cases differ in terms of their scope and number of episodes.
