About 45% of Roman's body is covered with external burns, and another 35% by internal burns.

"They are so deep that in some places they even reach his bones. His face, upper and lower limbs, and respiratory tract have been burned," is how doctors at the Sviatyi Mykolai (St Nicholas) Children's Hospital sum it up.

In addition, Roman has been diagnosed with a closed fracture in his left arm. Several fragments from a Russian projectile also hit his skull.

Roman has now been evacuated from Lviv to Germany, where he will undergo a number of surgical interventions, including skin grafts and plastic surgery.

"Unfortunately, now we have some very seriously injured patients. During the five months of the war, our specialists have provided care to 5,000 people who have suffered the most serious war injuries.

Among them are many children with landmine and shrapnel injuries, amputated limbs and severe burns," the doctors say.

On the day of the tragedy, 14 July, Roman and his mother had gone to visit his grandparents in Vinnytsia and made an appointment with a doctor at a local clinic at the same time. Yaroslav, Roman's father, remained in Lviv.

According to doctors, Yaroslav lost contact with his family around 11 o'clock that day, and soon found out that Russia had attacked Vinnytsia. Fortunately, his son managed to survive, but the boy's mother sadly died.

"Roman's father found him in Vinnytsia Regional Hospital, and only three days ago he learned, based on the results of a DNA test, that his 29-year-old wife Halyna had died," says the First Medical Association of Lviv.

The Russians attacked Vinnytsia in the afternoon of 14 July. 25 people were killed as a result of the rocket attack. Three children are among them, including 4-year-old Liza.

Currently, 55 injured people are being treated in Vinnytsia hospitals. 8 patients are in critical condition.
