Details: The ministry notes that the vessel RAZONI, sailing under the Sierra Leone flag, will carry 26,000 tonnes of Ukrainian corn to the port of Tripoli in Libya.

Quote from Oleksandr Kurbakov, Minister of Infrastructure: "Today Ukraine and its partners are taking another step to prevent world hunger. The lifting of the blockade on Ukrainian ports will contribute at least $1 billion of income to [Ukraine’s] economy and will allow the agricultural sector to plan next year’s crops. We are grateful to our partners who have worked tirelessly to coordinate the export process despite all the difficulties. From its side, Ukraine has done everything it could for its ports and all other relevant organisations and businesses to resume their operations.

Sixteen ships are already waiting their turn in the ports of the Greater Odesa. These ships had been blocked there at the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. At the same time, we are already receiving requests for the arrival of new ships to load shipments of agricultural exports. In the next couple of weeks we are planning to reach the full capacity of agricultural shipments with the support of our partners."

Background: On 22 July in Istanbul, at the suggestion of the United Nations, Ukraine, Turkey and António Guterres, Secretary-General of the UN, signed a so-called "grain deal", an agreement officially called the Initiative for the Safe Transport of Grain and Food Products from Ukrainian Ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi.

Turkey has claimed that the first grain ship will depart from the port of Odesa on the morning of Monday, 1 August.
