In Ukraine, a project called NEST has been launched, within the framework of which modular houses will be installed for Ukrainians so they don’t have to live in destroyed homes.

People will have access to a temporary mobile home for free while they rebuild after occupation or hostilities.

The houses will not be built in a separate modular town, but immediately on the plots of land of families who have lost their homes.

The houses already have everything needed for living, so people can move in immediately and start rebuilding their "family nests," say volunteers.

Implementation of the project began in the Makariv hromada [amalgamated territorial community - ed.] in Kyiv Oblast, which suffered under Russian occupation.

"Two-thirds of the communities in Kyiv Oblast were destroyed, so only by joining forces will we be able to restore Ukraine.

Ukrainians who return home will be able to develop hromadas and rebuild their cities at their own volition. We believe that Ukrainian towns and villages will be revived," the initiators of NEST wrote on Facebook.

Lists of families who lost their homes are provided to volunteers by the local authorities of the hromada.

Funds for the first three houses were raised by American students aged 11 to 17.

The project's initiators have said in their interview with The Village that by winter, volunteers plan to provide housing for 585 families of the hromada.

At the same time, the initiative works only in completely liberated territories – in particular Sumy Oblast, Kyiv Oblast and part of Zhytomyr Oblast, emphasises Prytula.
