Quote: "People are living in horrifying, inhumane conditions. There’s no water or gas. The electricity supply has been cut off for the past three months. We’re trying to provide water supplies, but it’s very difficult. The city is shelled about 20 times a day.

The enemy has been ceaselessly trying to storm the city for the past few days under the cover of artillery and aircraft. The aircraft attack Avdiivka twice a day, almost every day. They’re deploying every artillery system they have at their disposal. They’re deploying Solntsepeks and Iskander missiles [Solntsepek, or TOS-1A, is a multi-barrel rocket launch system. The system is equipped with a rack of incendiary or thermobaric rockets and has high destructive capacity. The Soviets called this a ‘heavy flamethrower’ - ed.]. They’re planting remote mines."

Details: Barabash added that only 10% of the city’s pre-invasion population are still there.

Background: The General Staff reported on 3 August that the Russian occupying forces had deployed tanks and artillery to fire on the areas around Niu-York, Krasnohorivka, Avdiivka, Pisky, Netailove and Kamianka on the Avdiivka front.

In addition, the Russians attempted to advance along the Novoselivka Druha – Krasnohorivka, Spartak – Avdiivka, Vasylivka – Krasnohorivka, Mineralne – Avdiivka, and Donetsk – Pisky axes, but were unsuccessful and have retreated.
