"In violation of its commitments, the Russian army is heavily shelling the corridor through which the IAEA's mission is supposed to travel from Zaporizhzhia to the nuclear power plant. Russia must immediately cease these dangerous provocations and allow the IAEA safe passage," the spokesman stressed.

On the morning of 1 September, the mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency left Zaporizhzhia for the nuclear power plant in Enerhodar, temporarily occupied by Russia, despite reports of intense shelling of the city.

Energoatom has reported that operating unit 5 at ZNPP has been automatically shut down due to shelling by the Russians.
