Quote from SSU: "An agent of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (better known as the GRU) was detained as a result of a special operation in Mykolaiv. The suspect was collecting intelligence on the deployment and movement of the Armed Forces units in the front-line areas, and primarily on military equipment transferred to Ukraine from Western partners."

Details: The traitor turned out to be a resident of Mykolaiv who repeatedly expressed his pro-Kremlin views.

The man travelled to various districts and settlements in Mykolaiv Oblast to collect coordinates and inspect the areas.

Moreover, the suspect recorded movement and deployment of military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, foreign military equipment, the residences of foreign instructors, and their relocation, using a hidden video camera mounted in the cabin of his own car.

He transferred the collected data to his handler through closed communication channels.

The Security Service of Ukraine notes that the occupiers planned to use the collected information so that Russians could land missile and artillery strikes against units of Ukrainian troops.

Mobile terminals, computer equipment and devices for hidden video recording with memory cards containing evidence of his criminal activities and belonging to the Russian military intelligence agency network were seized from the suspect during searches.

Custody was chosen for the man as a measure of restraint.
