Quote: "Russia continues to carry out energy terror against Ukraine, and also increases energy pressure on the European Union.

Ukrainian electricity, which we exported since becoming part of the EU energy system, as well as the export of electricity through separate lines to Moldova and Poland, helped Europe to replace Russian gas and supported the stability of the European energy system.

Even after the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), which has been under Russian occupation for more than 7 months, was stopped, Ukraine fulfilled its obligations before its European partners in terms of electricity export.

But today's [10 October – ed.] rocket attacks, which affected the thermal power generation and electrical substations, forced Ukraine to suspend electricity exports starting from 11 October 2022, in order to stabilise its own energy system".

"It was the export of electricity from Ukraine that helped Europe cut down the consumption of Russian energy resources. And that is why Russia is destroying our energy system, destroying the very possibility of exporting electricity from Ukraine," said Herman Halushchenko, Ukraine’s Energy Minister.
