Quote: "We may have blackouts only when it comes to electricity, and even then we can avoid them if we use power sparingly. There will be no blackouts when it concerns support."

Details: Kuleba called the resignation of Liz Truss "a very dramatic story" and noted that he was genuinely surprised by her decision since he communicated with her in line of work and knows her to be a very strong and ambitious leader. He thinks there have been some significant internal party balances that prompted Truss to make this decision.

After the interview, Dmytro Kuleba shared his plans to send Truss a short message with the words of support in this situation.

Background:

  • Due to the economic upheaval caused by the adoption of the mini-budget, members of the Conservative Party in British Parliament began to call for the Prime Minister to resign. However, Truss herself, apologising for her mistakes, ruled out such a possibility.
  • Nevertheless, on 20 October, Liz Truss announced her resignation. Her statement was made on the 45th day of her tenure as  the Prime Minister. Her term in office became the shortest in history.
