The Security Service of Ukraine has opened a criminal case with respect to the expression of Russian propaganda at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra (the Monastery of the Caves in Kyiv).

Quote: "The Security Service of Ukraine has opened a criminal case with respect to an incident which occurred on 12 November 2022 in one of the churches within the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra national conservation area. Propagandistic assertions praising the ‘Russian world’ were expressed during the divine liturgy."

Details: Law enforcement officers are conducting an investigation under Art. 436-2.1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justification, legitimisation and facilitation of Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine and glorification of its participants).

Background:

Prayers for Russia were said in the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. Vasyl Maliuk, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, stated that the incident is already being investigated by the Security Service.
