13 states plus Russia vote against UN resolution on Crimea
The UN General Assembly has approved a new resolution on the situation with human rights in occupied Crimea - this time, fewer states voted against it in comparison with the last one.

82 countries voted for the resolution, 14 voted against it, and 80 more abstained. Apart from Russia, the following states voted against approving the document: Belarus, China, Cuba, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Mali, Nicaragua, Sudan, Syria and Zimbabwe.
It is less than during the vote on 16 December 2021; 25 states in total voted against it that time.
In addition, Serbia and Armenia abstained this time. In comparison with last year’s vote, India, Kyrgyzstan, Saudi Arabia and Philippines changed their stance and abstained as well.
Background: At a special session in November, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution prepared by Ukraine and co-sponsored by about 50 other states, which calls on Russia to pay compensation for the damage caused by its full-scale invasion.
