Vasyl Bodnar, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey, has denied the statement about the alleged provision of cluster munitions by Ankara to Kyiv, which was previously reported by the Western media.

Quote from Bodnar: "Such statements are prepared specifically with the aim of harming Ukrainian-Turkish relations as well as forming a negative international image of Ukraine and Turkey."

Details: Bodnar has recalled that international law prohibits the use of cluster munitions, and Ukraine adheres to international norms, in particular during the armed conflict with Russia.

The Ukrainian ambassador to Turkey has suggested that such disinformation could be "part of Russian propaganda" and that Turkey and Ukraine are "targets".

"I completely deny these statements, which have nothing to do with reality. This news was created as a ‘psychological weapon’ with the aim of harming Turkey's image," states Bodnar.

Earlier, Foreign Policy sources reported that Turkey began sending Ukraine a form of US-designed, artillery-fired cluster bomb in late 2022 after months of Kyiv pleading with the Biden administration for the munitions

These weapons are designed to destroy tanks by bursting into smaller submunitions that can remain on the battlefield for years if not detonated immediately. Each projectile scatters about 88 bombs.

It is currently unclear whether Turkish munitions were used in combat operations.

In December, the CNN TV channel reported that the administration of US President Joe Biden was considering Ukraine's request for the supply of cluster munitions.
