Quote: "At least not at this stage of the war, and I'm sure it won't be even in six months. It will be quite a long time before anyone delivers fighter jets to Ukraine, let's be honest about that. Modern aircraft like the Eurofighter, which we in the UK call Typhoon, will only be provided to Ukraine after the war," Wallace said.

Details: As he states, this is the consensus among Western partners.

Quote: "Nevertheless, we are signalling our determination to help Ukraine for as long as it takes by being ready in principle to take this step at some point," Wallace emphasised.

Details: The Defence Secretary stressed that pilot training takes a long time.

Quote: "So it's better to start now. None of us knows how this war will continue, whether it will last for another year or two. By starting to prepare fighter jets, we are setting ourselves up for the unexpected, and on the other hand, we have nothing to lose," Wallace said.

"If at some point, we decide to actually send fighter jets, we will be ready. Unlike battle tanks, there will be no delays with fighter jets once a political decision is made," he explained.

Background:

Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, is confident that the issue of providing Ukraine with fighter jets will be resolved.

Earlier, the minister had said that Ukraine is particularly interested in fighter jets from the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.
