Ukraine's Foreign Minister on events in Russia: Time to put end to evil that everyone despised but was afraid to destroy
Dmytro Kuleba, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, has reacted to events in Russia, where an armed rebellion has begun.
The minister tweeted his reaction, European Pravda reports.
"Those who said Russia is too strong to lose: look now," Kuleba emphasised.
He said it was time to abandon "feigned neutrality and fear of escalation", provide Ukraine with all the weapons it needs, and forget about friendship or business with Russia.
"Time to put an end to the evil everyone despised but was too afraid to tear down," Kuleba added.
Since the evening of 23 June, a power struggle has been going on in Russia between the Wagner Group and the Russian military leadership.
Prigozhin claims to have seized control of military facilities in Rostov-on-Don, including the airfield, and his forces are heading "towards Moscow". His soldiers have already shot down four Russian helicopters and an An-26 transport aircraft.
A counter-terrorist operation regime is in place in Moscow. Vladimir Putin has spoken of civil war and rebellion in a special address to his fellow citizens.
UK intelligence has stated that these events are the most serious challenge for Russia as a state to date.
