Russian company announces the construction of second UAV production plant

Russian company Roboavia has announced the construction of a second UAV manufacturing plant, which is to be built in Rostov Oblast, while the first one is already allegedly operating in occupied Crimea, in Simferopol.

Source: Russian news agency Interfax, with reference to Igor Sorokin, the deputy governor of the Oblast.

Details: It is also reported that the local authorities and Roman Gurov, the CEO of Roboavia LLC, signed an agreement to start construction.

The construction of the plant will cost 500 million roubles (about US$ 5.5 million).

The company is expected to produce 1,100 drones a year.

"After the construction is complete, the company will create 200 new jobs at the first stage and 500 new jobs at the following stages. The volume of investments in production will amount to about 500 million roubles," said Deputy Governor Sorokin.

According to him, the company has already built such a plant in Simferopol, producing 16 UAVs and quadcopters per month.

Roboavia company was registered in January 2015 in Crimea, its main activity is the production of helicopters, aeroplanes and other aircraft. 90% of the company's authorised capital belongs to beneficiary Lyudmila Gurova, and another 10% to Maksim Krasyuk.

Background: In April, the Russian media reported on plans to launch mass production of the Okhotnik heavy strike and reconnaissance drone. The production of this drone, which Russia announced was being tested four years ago, will allegedly begin in two years in the city of  Novosibirsk.

Additionally, a year ago, the Russian aerospace defence concern Almaz-Antey announced the start of trial production of several types of multi-purpose unmanned aerial vehicles.
