Ukraine's air defence destroys 23 out of 33 Russian targets

Russian forces attacked Ukraine with air- and land-launched missiles as well as attack drones on the night of 5-6 September. Air defence forces destroyed 23 targets out of 33.

Details: As Air Force reported, they recorded 33 Russian air targets in total:

  • 7 Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 air-launched missiles fired from 9 Tu-95ms strategic bombers from the Engels airfield in Saratov Oblast, Russia;
  • 1 Iskander-M ballistic missile;
  • 25 Shahed-136/131 attack drones from the southeast and south (Russian Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Crimean Chauda).

Air defence systems responded in several Ukrainian oblasts, following the route of the missiles and drones. Anti-aircraft missile troops, fighter aircraft, mobile air defence fire teams and other weapons were involved in repelling the air strike.

Air Force assets and personnel in cooperation with the Ukrainian Defence Forces’ air defence systems have destroyed 23 air targets:

  • 7 Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 air-launched missiles;
  • 1 Iskander-M ballistic missile;
  • 15 Shahed-136/131 attack drones.

In addition, Ukraine’s Air Force conducted up to 10 group airstrikes on Russian targets and their positions over the past day.
