Israeli forces strike Syria's military infrastructure

Israel Defence Forces (IDF) fighter jets have attacked military infrastructure and mortar sites belonging to the Syrian army.

Details: The IDF stated that the attack was a retaliatory measure to the projectiles launched towards Israel on Tuesday.

Background: 

• The Israeli-Palestinian conflict escalated on 7 October when Hamas attacked Israel with rockets.
• On the same day, the militants broke through the border and attacked the Supernova electronic music festival, killing and capturing some participants.
• On 9 October, Israel announced that it had regained control of all areas on the border near the Gaza Strip.
• On 10 October, the Israel Defence Forces reported that they had spotted several projectile launches from Syria into Israel.
• Israel is currently planning a ground offensive against the Gaza Strip that may take three months.
