Russian troops launched a missile attack on Kyiv on the night of 12-13 December, using 10 missiles, including S-400 anti-aircraft guided missiles and Iskander cruise missiles, while they continue to conduct attacks on several fronts and are trying to surround Avdiivka.

Details: The Russian Federation attacked Ukraine with 10 Shahed-136/131 UAVs in the past day. All the attack drones were destroyed by Ukrainian air defence.

95 combat engagements occurred over the course of 24 hours.

In total, the Russians launched 2 missile strikes and 13 airstrikes and carried out 63 attacks from multiple-launch rocket systems on the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. 

Novomykhailivka and Kostiantynivka (Donetsk Oblast) were hit by airstrikes.

More than 130 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro and Kherson oblasts came under artillery fire.

The situation on key fronts is as follows:

  • The operational situation in the area of responsibility of Operational Strategic Group Pivnich (North) on the Volyn and Polissia fronts remains without significant changes.
  • On the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna fronts, the Russians are maintaining a military presence in the border areas, conducting active sabotage activities and increasing the density of minefields along the border.
  • In the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia Operational Strategic Group on the Kupiansk front, Ukrainian defenders repelled eight Russian attacks near Synkivka, Petropavlivka and Ivanivka (Kharkiv Oblast).
  • On the Lyman front, Ukrainian defenders repelled two Russian attacks near Makiivka (Luhansk Oblast).
  • On the Bakhmut front, Ukrainian soldiers repelled five Russian attacks near Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka and Andriivka (Donetsk Oblast). Ukraine’s Defence Forces are continuing to inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the Russian forces, and consolidating their positions.
  • In the area of responsibility of Operational Strategic Group Tavriia on the Avdiivka front, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the Russians, who keep trying to surround Avdiivka. Ukrainian soldiers are steadfastly holding the defence and inflicting significant losses on the Russians. The Defence Forces successfully repelled 51 Russian attacks east of Novokalynove, east of Novobakhmutivka, in Stepove, Avdiivka, south of Sieverne, south of Tonenke, and in Pervomaiske and Nevelske (Donetsk Oblast).
  • On the Marinka front, the Defence Forces are continuing to hold back the Russians near Novomykhailivka (Donetsk Oblast), where the defenders repelled 13 attacks.
  • On the Shakhtarsk front, the Russians did not conduct any offensive operations. 
  • On the Zaporizhzhia front, Ukraine’s Defence Forces repelled eight Russian attacks to the north of Pryiutne, the west of Verbove and the south of Robotyne (Zaporizhzhia Oblast). 
  • On the Melitopol front, Ukraine’s Defence Forces are continuing to inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the Russian forces, exhausting the Russians along the entire front line.
  • In the area of responsibility of the Odesa Operational Strategic Group on the Kherson front, the Defence Forces are continuing to hold their positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River, conducting counter-battery measures and inflicting fire on the Russian rear.
