Ukrainian Defence Minister invites Türkiye to join Maritime Coalition – photo

Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umierov has proposed that Türkiye join the Maritime Coalition to strengthen security in the Black Sea.

Quote: "We are grateful to Türkiye for supporting Ukraine from the first day of the full-scale invasion in ensuring the security of the Black Sea. We invite Türkiye to join the Maritime Coalition."

Details: This was stated by the Ukrainian Minister of Defence during a meeting with Levent Bilgen, the new Turkish ambassador to Ukraine.

The parties are also reported to have discussed potential cooperation in defence production.

Ambassador Bilgen stressed that Türkiye's full support for Ukraine will continue.

Note: The efforts of the Maritime Capability Coalition, which was launched by the UK and Norway, are aimed at ending Russia's interference in freedom of navigation, particularly to ensure the functioning of the "grain corridor".
