Kyiv city administration confirms hit to apartment building: upper floors ablaze – photo

A residential building in Kyiv’s Solomianskyi district was hit by debris on the evening of 21 December as a result of air defence intercepting enemy targets.

Details: According to the city authorities, the upper floors are ablaze and a unit of the State Emergency Service is working at the scene.

At 00:10, Kyiv Police reported that the debris had damaged the 26th floor of a building in the city’s Solomianskyi district. A fire broke out. Information on casualties is being confirmed.

Windows shattered in several flats and the facade of the building was damaged. Specialised services are working at the scene.

The police stressed that photos and videos of the air defence system in operation and the aftermath of the attack should not be posted.

An air-raid warning issued in the capital is still in place, and air defence is in operation. People have been asked to stay in shelters.

00.15 Popko added that debris was recorded as having fallen in the Holosiivskyi and Darnytskyi districts. Information on the damage and casualties is being updated.

At 00:34, the Kyiv City State Administration reported that the fire in the high-rise apartment building in the Solomianskyi district had been extinguished. 

Experts also recorded damage between the 24th and 25th floors. One person sought medical assistance.

In the Holosiivskyi district, debris hit a high-rise apartment building. There were no casualties.

In the Darnytskyi district, debris fell into a private residential building. Information on casualties and damage is being confirmed.
