Zaluzhnyi noted that neither the General Staff nor the Armed Forces of Ukraine have made any suggestion in this regard, because they have no opportunity to assess which method is better.

Quote: "We are happy with any method that will meet our need for people. If we get them with email messages, that will be very good. It would also be very good if it were done in some other way. But both the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the General Staff are no more than consumers in these matters."

Background:

  • The possibility of sending call-up notices via email and registered post is also being discussed in the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament). Fedir Venislavskyi, the President's representative in the Verkhovna Rada and a member of the National Security and Defence Committee, said that a law was in the process of being drafted. MPs are planning to provide for the possibility of call-up notices being served not only in person against a receipt, but also via email and registered post.
  • Venislavskyi says the new law should "simplify the receipt of call-up notices and prevent people from abusing the fact that they have allegedly not received a notice and are not breaking the law."
