Details: Medvedev's post labelled Ukraine a "minor state in the process of collapse".

The official also called US President Joe Biden's desire to help Ukrainians resist Russian aggression "primitive blackmail" in order to "pursue war business at any cost".

Medvedev also claimed that "various American presidents at different times" had supposedly threatened to go to war with Russia.

Why it’s important: In February 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine, claiming that NATO had supposedly been preparing Ukraine for an offensive against Russia. Many countries around the world condemned the unprovoked aggression, imposing sanctions on Russia and providing military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

Following the outbreak of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Medvedev repeatedly threatened to use nuclear weapons and the outbreak of World War III.

Background: In late November, Sergei Ryabkov, Russia's Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, claimed that Russia was ready for war with NATO.
