Ukraine's foreign minister and EU top diplomat discuss peace talks involving US in Paris

Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha held a phone conversation with Kaja Kallas, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, on Friday 18 April.

Details: Sybiha stated that he coordinated positions with Kallas "ahead of upcoming international events".

"We also discussed the recent diplomatic efforts, results of yesterday’s talks in Paris and next steps to restore a fair and comprehensive peace in Ukraine and Europe," he added.
Sybiha thanked the EU for its "unwavering support and practical assistance in strengthening Ukraine".
Background:
- On 17 April, French President Emmanuel Macron received a US delegation at the Élysée Palace. A meeting between the Ukrainian delegation and representatives of France, Germany and the United Kingdom also took place in Paris.
- The United States presented its own proposals to its European allies for a "peace deal" between Russia and Ukraine, which, in particular, envisage easing sanctions against Russia should a lasting ceasefire take place.
