Trump threatens to halt peace efforts if parties "make it very difficult"

US President Donald Trump has stated that he may abandon attempts to stop the war between Ukraine and Russia if one of the sides complicates the peace process too much.

Details: Trump was asked to comment on a statement by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who said the US is ready to abandon efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine if there is no progress in "a matter of days".
Trump said that there is no specific number of days within which the US would make such a decision, "but quickly, we want to get it done".
Quote: "If for some reason one of the two parties makes it [the peace process – ed.] very difficult, we’re just going to say: ‘You’re foolish, you’re fools, you’re horrible people’. And we’re going to just take a pass. But hopefully we won’t have to do that."
Details: Trump then said he supported Rubio’s remarks and that the US is not going to tolerate delays in peace efforts. "I think we have a good chance of solving the problem, however," the president noted.
Background: The United States presented its own proposals to its European allies for a "peace deal" between Russia and Ukraine, which, in particular, envisage easing sanctions against Russia should a lasting ceasefire take place.
