Police officer killed at checkpoint in Russian attack on Kherson

Police Captain Valerii Toharenko was killed in a Russian attack on a checkpoint in the city of Kherson on Sunday morning.

Quote: "A senior detective from the criminal police division at Police Department No. 2 (Korabelnyi district) of the Kherson District Police Administration was killed in an enemy attack this morning in Kherson.

Valerii Toharenko was on duty at a checkpoint with his colleagues when they came under intense enemy fire. One of the strikes inflicted fatal injuries on the police officer."

Details: In a statement, the police said Toharenko was born in Kherson and began his service in law enforcement in August 2002 as a cadet at the Kherson Law Institute. He dedicated over 20 years to fighting crime and protecting public order and the safety of residents of Kherson Oblast.
