Since the state programme was first put into action, bomb disposal experts have completed full cycles of humanitarian demining as established by the Humanitarian Demining Center, the ministry informs.

According to the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture, the total area of demined agricultural land was 5,138 hectares, and the cost of work was 328.2 million hryvnas (about US$7.9 million). The largest areas were cleared in Kharkiv (2,200 ha), Kyiv (1,500 ha), Mykolaiv (over 1,000 ha) and Kherson (almost 353 ha).

The ministry noted that the state cost compensation of demining agricultural land allows farmers seeking to demine their land to get 100% cost compensation for humanitarian demining.

Farmers who had demined their land between 24 February 2024 and 15 April 2024 receive 80% cost compensation for humanitarian demining. In order to participate in the programme, farmers can apply via the State Agrarian Register.

Background:

  • According to the Settlement Chamber, about a quarter of Ukraine's territory – over 13.9 million hectares – were affected by combat actions. Meanwhile, the return to safe use of land, its survey and demining is proceeding very slowly.
  • Online certification for bomb disposal experts via Diia, Ukraine's e-government app, is being launched in Ukraine.
