Details: Hetmanchuk said she has no further information regarding reports that US President Donald Trump is currently considering providing Ukraine with long-range Tomahawk missiles capable of striking deep inside Russia.
She added that the key point is to make it clear to Russia that all options remain on the table.
Hetmanchuk said that while air defence is extremely important, it is like using painkillers. To target the source of the pain, Ukraine needs to carry out strikes deep inside Russia.
Background:
- In September, US Vice President JD Vance confirmed that the Trump administration was considering Ukraine's request for long-range Tomahawk missiles that could hit targets deep inside Russia, including Moscow.
- US President Donald Trump said recently that he has "sort of made a decision" on the supply of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.
- The Kremlin commented that it is necessary to wait for more specific statements from Washington regarding the provision of cruise missiles to Ukraine.
