Quote: "The situation is difficult, and we must speak honestly rather than reassure ourselves. The enemy does not stop. A new attack is forecasted in the coming days.

I call on Kyiv residents to stay focused and act pragmatically. Stock up on water, prepare a first-aid kit and food supplies, charge your power banks, and get warm clothes ready. Do not ignore air-raid warnings."

Details: Klitschko said Kyiv had endured one of the most damaging attacks to date.

Since the early morning of 10 October, all municipal services have been working to deal with the aftermath.

Energy workers have already restored power to more than 423,000 customers.

Quote: "Work continues to reconnect all remaining households as quickly as possible."

More details: Klitschko added that the city's water supply system has been restored and is now operating normally. However, some buildings that remain without power may experience a lack of cold water on upper floors, as booster pumps are not working properly.

Quote: "All city services are working around the clock in emergency mode to restore stable operation of Kyiv's essential systems. Please support them with your gratitude and by acting responsibly in regard to the potential challenges. Only by standing together can we overcome the challenges ahead."

Background:

  • On the evening of 9 October, Russia launched a wave of strike drones across Ukraine, followed by overnight missile attacks. Kyiv came under a large-scale attack, leaving parts of the city without power and water.
  • Some trolleybus and tram routes in Kyiv remain suspended due to power outages caused by the large-scale Russian strike on the capital. Metro services also continue to face disruptions.
  • Russia launched a combined strike on Ukraine on the night of 9-10 October, using 32 missiles and 465 drones of various types. Air defence systems intercepted 420 aerial assets. There were confirmed strikes in 19 locations.
