Russians attack firefighters in Kharkiv Oblast: 1 killed, 5 injured – photos

One firefighter from the State Emergency Service has been killed and five injured in a double-tap Russian strike on Kharkiv Oblast on the night of 22-23 October.

Quote: "While extinguishing a fire caused by an enemy drone strike on the village of Zelenyi Hai, part of the Velykyi Burluk hromada in the Kupiansk district, Russian terrorists launched a double-tap strike on the scene where firefighters were working. The enemy strike claimed the life of one firefighter. Five of his colleagues have been injured." [A hromada is an administrative unit designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories – ed.]

Details: The deceased was the commander of the unit, Senior Master Sergeant of the Civil Protection Service Yurii Chystikov, aged 50. He is survived by his daughter.

"Yurii Chystikov was an example of true dedication to duty – a man for whom saving others was more important than his own life. His name will forever remain in the hearts of firefighters as a symbol of courage, honour and devotion to service," the State Emergency Service noted.
