Two women killed and 28 injured in Russian attack on Kherson

Two people were killed and 28 were injured, including three children, in Russian strikes on the city of Kherson on 24 October. Another man was injured after Russian troops dropped explosives from a drone.

Clarification: At 14:51, Kherson Oblast Police reported, citing updated information, that two women aged 45 and 83 had been killed in the attack.

The Prosecutor's Office confirmed the deaths of the two women in a comment to Ukrainska Pravda.

Quote: "Russian forces attacked Kherson with drones overnight. A Shahed UAV hit a residential building in the Dniprovskyi district, causing a fire. An 80-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man have been injured. Both suffered blast injuries and thermal burns."

Details: Both of them were taken to hospital.

The Russians injured another resident of Kherson by dropping explosives from a drone on the Dniprovskyi district at around 06:00. The 59-year-old man suffered a blast injury and shrapnel wounds to his abdominal wall. He was also taken to hospital.

Update: Prokudin later reported that the Russians had attacked Kherson's Korabelnyi district at around 07:30.

"A 16-year-old boy has been injured. He suffered a blast injury, concussion and shrapnel wounds to his torso and face. An emergency medical team took him to hospital," he said.

Prokudin added that five adults were also injured in the attack and apartment buildings and homes have been damaged.

Later, Yaroslav Shanko, Head of Kherson City Military Administration, stated that a woman had been killed in the morning attack.

The city military administration subsequently reported that the number of people injured in the large-scale Russian attack on the Korabelnyi district had risen to 14.

A little later, Shanko said that another death due to the Russian attack had been confirmed.

"A woman whose identity is currently being established by the appropriate services was in a minibus at the time of the enemy attack. The injuries she sustained were fatal," he noted.

Kherson Oblast Prosecutor's Office reported that as of 10:20, another woman's death had been confirmed, bringing the death toll from the large-scale attack on Kherson to three.

Update: Later, Kherson Oblast Military Administration reported that the number of people injured in the morning Russian attack on Kherson's Korabelnyi district had risen to 25.

According to Shanko, among those injured are four municipal workers and three children.

Updated at 17:06: Kherson Oblast Prosecutor's Office has issued an update on the consequences of the morning attack on the city.

Quote from the Prosecutor's Office: "During the initial information-gathering at the scene, in the difficult conditions of the emergency, it was initially reported that three women had been killed.

Later, after identification and verification of the victims' personal details, it was established that one person who had sustained fatal injuries a day earlier in the town of Beryslav had been mistakenly included in the list of those killed in the attack on the city's Korabelnyi district."

Details: As of 17:00, the deaths of two women have been confirmed. Twenty-eight people were injured, including three children.

The Prosecutor's Office apologised for the error in the earlier report.
