The percentage of Ukrainians who believe that in ten years their country will be prosperous and a member of the European Union has risen from 43% to 56%.

Details: KIIS noted that from October 2022 to May 2025, there had been a steady decline in optimism among Ukrainians. In May 2025, pessimistic views outweighed optimistic ones for the first time: 47% believed that in ten years' time Ukraine would be a country with a devastated economy and significant migration outflow, compared with 43% who believed it would be a prosperous EU member.

However, optimism has been on the rise again, and as of early October, 56% of respondents have a positive outlook on Ukraine's future.

Moreover, the percentage of people who believe that in ten years Ukraine will be a devastated country with a major exodus of the population has fallen from 47% to 31%.

The sociologists also observed a generational trend: younger Ukrainians tend to be more pessimistic. Among respondents aged 18-29, 49% believe Ukraine will be prosperous in ten years, while 39% think it will be devastated – a +10% optimism balance (compared with +25% nationwide). Among those aged 30-59, the optimism balance is +23%, and among those aged 60 and older, it is +39%.

The survey was conducted between 19 September and 5 October via telephone interviews based on a random sample of mobile numbers. A total of 1,008 respondents aged 18 and over were interviewed across all government-controlled oblasts of Ukraine.

The statistical margin of error for this sample does not exceed 4.1%, though in wartime conditions, a certain systematic deviation must also be taken into account.
