Seven-year-old Polish girl among those killed in Russian strike on Ternopil

Maciej Wewiór, spokesperson for the Polish Foreign Ministry, has said that a Polish citizen, seven-year-old Amelia, was killed in the Russian strike on the Ukrainian city of Ternopil on the night of 18-19 November.

Details: Wewiór noted that Russia had attacked civilians in Ternopil on the night of 18-19 November, and that "among the victims of this atrocity is a seven-year-old Polish citizen – Amelka".

Details: Ternopil School No. 27 named after Viktor Hurniak reported that Amelia, a second-grade student, and her mother Oksana were killed in the Russian missile attack.

Background:

  • During a meeting with US Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll on 20 November, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy briefed him on the foreign components, from countries with anti-Russian sanctions, in the missile used to carry out the deadly strike on Ternopil.
  • Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said after the attack that this was further proof that any realistic peace plan must begin with pressure on Moscow.
