Poland's defence minister responds to incident involving Russian aircraft
Poland's Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, commenting on an incident involving the interception of a Russian military aircraft over the Baltic Sea, has praised the work of Polish troops.

Details: Kosiniak-Kamysz asserted that the Polish military had the situation under control over the Baltic Sea and near the border with Belarus.
Quote: "Another tense night for the operational services of the Polish Armed Forces. All provocations, both over the Baltic Sea and on the border with Belarus, were fully under control. I would like to thank the nearly 20,000 of our soldiers who are guarding our security during the holidays – and, as we can see, doing so extremely effectively."
Background:
- Poland's Armed Forces Operational Command reported that in the morning over international waters of the Baltic Sea, Polish fighter jets "intercepted, visually identified and escorted" a Russian reconnaissance aircraft.
- In addition, intrusions into Polish airspace by objects from Belarus were recorded overnight.
- During Russia's latest large-scale attack on Ukraine on 23 December, Poland once again scrambled its aircraft, while air-raid warnings were issued in areas of Romania bordering Odesa Oblast.
