Details: The Astra Telegram channel noted that it had geolocated evidence showing that "the Energiya defence plant in Yelets is on fire after a UAV attack."
Quote from the post: "Footage recorded by eyewitnesses was filmed approximately 900 metres from the attacked facility, according to Astra's OSINT analysis."
Details: Energiya JSC produces, among other things, batteries for UAVs, as well as batteries for aviation and the navy.
After midnight, Artamonov stated that firefighters had allegedly "contained the fire in the industrial zone of Yelets after a UAV fell."
He added that early reports indicated that "no one has been killed or injured."
Background:
- In May, drones attacked a battery plant in the Russian city of Yelets, causing fires, as stated in media reports and Russian Telegram channels.
- On 3 July, Russian authorities reported a drone attack on four oblasts; explosions were heard in the cities of Lipetsk and Yelets in Lipetsk Oblast – the former is home to a military airfield, while the latter has a battery plant.
- The Astra Telegram channel geolocated footage of damage in a car park and concluded that the Energiya plant had been the target of the attack.
