US-Ukraine talks to continue on 7 January, US negotiator says

Adviser to President Donald Trump and his Special Envoy Steve Witkoff has said that the American delegation will continue talks with the Ukrainian delegation on 7 January, following the Coalition of the Willing meeting in Paris.

Details: Witkoff said that the US delegation had a meeting with representatives of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris on 6 January, as well as the Ukrainian delegation, to "advance President Trump's peace plan on Ukraine".
The US delegation included Steve Witkoff, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, Commander of US forces in Europe General Alexus Grynkewich, US ambassador to France Charles Kushner and White House adviser Josh Gruenbaum.

More details: Witkoff added that the US delegation has made "significant progress on several critical workstreams, including our bilateral security guarantee framework and a prosperity plan".
Quote: "The Coalition [of the Willing – ed.] also released a statement outlining its framework to a security guarantee. We agree with the Coalition that durable security guarantees and robust prosperity commitments are essential to a lasting peace in the Ukraine and we will continue to work together on this effort."
More details: Witkoff said that the US delegation will continue negotiations with the Ukrainian delegation on the evening of Tuesday 6 January and on Wednesday 7 January.
He said that they are "hopeful to achieve additional positive momentum in the near future".
Background:
- It was reported earlier that the Coalition of the Willing has prepared a draft declaration calling for the US to commit to supporting the coalition's European forces if Ukraine comes under attack.
- A special coordination centre in a US-Ukraine-Coalition of the Willing format will be established and based at the operational headquarters of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris. The coordination centre will be responsible for security guarantees for Ukraine from Western allies.
- Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has said that each task linked to the process of providing assistance to Ukraine has a leading state, with Poland set to be the lead country on logistics.
