Russia attacks Ukraine with 115 drones: air defence downs 96 UAVs, 11 locations hit

Russian forces have attacked Ukraine with 115 drones since the evening of 16 January and through the night. Ukrainian air defences have managed to destroy 96 drones, but 16 UAVs have hit 11 locations.

Quote: "On the night of 16-17 January (from 18:00 on 16 January), the enemy launched 115 Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas and other types of drones from Russia's Millerovo, Kursk, Oryol and Primorsko-Akhtarsk as well as temporarily occupied Donetsk. About 75 of the UAVs were Shahed loitering munitions."

Details: Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups from Ukraine's defence forces were involved in repelling the attack.

Early reports indicated that as of 07:30, Ukrainian air defence forces had destroyed or jammed 96 Russian UAVs.

Hits by 16 UAVs had been recorded at 11 locations and the fall of downed aerial assets (debris) at 2 locations.
