Details: Zelenskyy gave his speech immediately after bilateral talks with US President Donald Trump. He noted that prior to this meeting, the Ukrainian negotiating team had communicated with the American team, and that the US delegation would then travel to Moscow.
"The American team will leave for Moscow today. They were waiting for our meeting with President Trump. Now they will leave, and my team will meet with the American team, and I think this will be the first trilateral meeting in the Emirates; it will take place tomorrow and the day after tomorrow," Zelenskyy said.
He added that he considers it "good" to start holding such meetings at the tactical level.
"Russia must be ready for compromises. Everyone must be ready, not just Ukraine. This is important for us. We will see what the results will be," the head of state added.
Background:
- Trump called his meeting with Zelenskyy in Davos on Thursday "very good".
- Trump also noted that the meeting with Zelenskyy did not cover Ukraine's potential membership in the "Board of Peace" he is establishing – a council that so far has not included any of the US's usual Western European allies.
