Details: During the conversation, Fedorov discussed with Jonson the contents of the next Swedish military aid package for Ukraine, which is described as one of the biggest.
"Swedish side is preparing a large-scale aid package, which will include air defence systems and radars produced by Saab and contributions to the Ukrainian defence industrial base such as additional electronic warfare systems and UAVs, including deep strike drones," the ministry said.
Parties also specifically discussed the possibility of supplying Ukraine with Gripen aircraft and Meteor missiles, which are key tools for countering aircraft that carry guided aerial bombs.
It is noted that Ukraine and Sweden are also discussing the possibility of additional contributions to the PURL initiative (which provides procurement of US weapons for Ukraine using funds from other allies), in particular to purchase means of countering Russian ballistic missiles.
In addition, partnership in defence innovations was discussed, to attract grant funds for defence companies and test innovative solutions in combat conditions.
"In parallel, parties are working on accelerating the joint production of Ukrainian security solutions on the territory of Sweden," the press service added.
Background:
- Ukraine's government expects that the Gripen manufacturer plant will appear in Ukraine in 2033, and their aircraft will appear in Ukraine "significantly earlier".
- President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the first aircraft may arrive as early as 2026.
