EU's chief diplomat to outline concessions Europe should demand from Russia in potential Ukraine peace deal

Kaja Kallas, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, has said she will initiate a discussion with EU member states regarding a list of the concessions that Europe should demand from Russia as part of a potential agreement to end Russia's war against Ukraine.

Details: Speaking to journalists in Brussels, Kallas said she will propose in the coming days that EU countries discuss a list of the concessions that should be demanded from Russia as part of a potential deal to end the war.

Asked what might be on the list, she mentioned the liberation of all the Ukrainian children abducted by Russia and limits on the size of Russia's armed forces.

Quote: "Everybody around the table, including the Russians and the Americans, needs to understand that you need Europeans to agree. And for that, we also have conditions. And we should put the conditions not on Ukrainians, who have been already pressured a lot, but on the Russians.

If we don't stand up for anything, there's no point for us to be around the table. It's important that we discuss what kind of concessions we need to see from the Russian side in order to have a sustainable peace."
