Details: Jonson said Sweden is looking forward to the meeting in the NATO-Ukraine Council format and plans to announce that it is providing its third package of financial contributions to the PURL programme.

The minister did not specify the amount of the contribution.

He added that there will also be a session of the NATO-Ukraine Council and the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (also known as the Ramstein format) on the sidelines of the NATO ministerial meeting.

PURL is an initiative under which NATO allies fund the purchase of US-made weapons for Ukraine.

Jonson explained that the PURL programme is key to defence purchases from the US that European countries can quickly provide to Ukraine, particularly for air-defence interceptor missiles, which European nations do not produce.
