Rubio assures G7 of US commitment to talks on ending war in Ukraine

During a meeting with foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) countries on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the United States is committed to negotiations to end the Russo-Ukrainian war.

Details: The statement noted that Rubio met with G7 foreign ministers in Munich on Saturday.
Quote: "The leaders discussed pressing issues such as ongoing conflicts threatening peace and stability in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, as well as challenges to regional security in the Indo-Pacific and the Western Hemisphere. The Secretary reiterated the United States' commitment to promoting stability in Venezuela and negotiating an end to the Russia-Ukraine war."
Details: The statement added that Rubio and his counterparts reaffirmed the importance of strengthening G7 cooperation to counter global threats to international peace and security.

- Rubio stated that the US does not know how serious Russia is about the negotiations to settle its war against Ukraine but will continue to test this.
- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the US has proposed ending Russia's war against Ukraine by the summer, as they will have a different priority later – the US congressional elections.
