Western partners to provide €600 million for Ukraine's energy sector

Ukraine's Ministry of Energy and Western partners, meeting in Paris, have agreed to allocate more than €600 million in energy support for Ukraine.

Details: The allocated funds are distributed as follows:
- Contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund amounting to more than €250 million.
- Agreements with the United States on a separate assistance programme through the SPARK project totalling US$276 million.
- €71 million in humanitarian assistance from France, to be provided during 2026.
In total, meetings were held in Paris with representatives of the European Union, the United States, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Canada, Latvia, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Finland and France.
"I sincerely thank the Netherlands, the IEA and France for organising the events, a united Europe, and all the countries of the world that stand with Ukraine today. We feel your support. Light will prevail!" Shmyhal wrote.
Background: Approximately 9.5 GW of new generation capacity will be required for Ukraine's energy system in the near future, and the state and businesses must establish effective cooperation to ensure that power plants are built as swiftly as possible.
