Trump: US launches large-scale combat operations in Iran
US President Donald Trump has stated that the United States has launched a military campaign in Iran.

Details: On the morning of 28 February, Trump announced that the US had begun "major combat operations" in Iran.
Trump said the goal of the United States is to "defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime, a vicious group of very hard, terrible people".
"Its menacing activities directly endanger the United States, our troops, our bases overseas and our allies throughout the world," Trump said.
Trump noted that Iran had been working to restore its nuclear programme following US bombings of its nuclear facilities in June.
"They rejected every opportunity to renounce their nuclear ambitions, and we can't take it anymore," he said.
Trump stated that the United States would "destroy their missiles and erase their missile industry to the ground".
