Ukraine's Foreign Ministry on Iran: "violence and arbitrariness" of regime behind current events
Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said it supports the Iranian people while calling the "violence and arbitrariness" of the Iranian regime the reason behind current events.

Quote: "The reason for the current events is precisely the violence and arbitrariness of the Iranian regime, in particular the murders and repressions against peaceful protesters, which have become particularly large-scale in recent months.
We emphasise that the regime in Tehran had every opportunity to prevent a violent scenario. It was given opportunities for diplomacy and finding solutions, but the regime ignored these efforts and instead only stalled for time in the hope of misleading the international community.
We reaffirm our unwavering position: we wish security, prosperity, and freedom to the Iranian people, as well as stability and prosperity to the Middle East. We thank everyone in the world who has supported and continues to support the Iranian people in this difficult time."
Details: The ministry recalled that the Iranian regime has deployed a large-scale policy of violence against its own people and other countries. This includes mass human rights violations inside the country, support for militants who have brought chaos to other countries in the region and direct military support for the aggressor state Russia in its unprovoked war of conquest against Ukraine.
The ministry also stated that the regime has spent colossal resources on violence, killings and chaos rather than providing for its own people, whose economic situation has continued to worsen each year, adding that, as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stressed repeatedly, the Iranian regime should have left long ago.
At the same time, Andrii Sybiha said that Ukraine's position on Iran is "consistent and regional" – the Iranian regime "terrorises the region, supports and finances terrorist groups".
Sybiha said Ukraine's Foreign Ministry has issued necessary warnings for Ukrainian citizens in time for them to leave the territory of Iran and the territory of other countries where their lives and safety could be under threat.
