Quote: "A hangar at a naval base of ours, which borders the Emirati base, has been damaged during a drone attack targeting Abu Dhabi port."

More details: Vautrin said the strike did not hit the area where the French contingent is stationed and that no personnel were injured.

"The damage is material only and limited. There are no casualties," she said, adding that French forces in the region are on maximum alert "in a situation that changes by the hour".

France has military bases in Abu Dhabi under a bilateral agreement with the UAE. The French Navy base is located at Zayed Port.

Background:

  • It has been officially reported that three US service personnel were killed in action during the attack on Iran. The Pentagon has denied that Iran hit a US aircraft carrier.
  • Abu Dhabi was among the targets of Iranian strikes. Estonia has reported damage to its diplomatic mission building in the city.
